Final meeting for 2008

Business Talk's final meeting for 2008 took place on Thursday 11 December - everyone got to have their final say for the year with a rolling story of gigantic proportions and the hotly contested traditional Christmas Debate. This year's Christmas Debate was won by the all girl team Jo Stephenson and Vivien Ellard (seen here giving the trophy some love!) who narrowly beat Rosetta Muscatt and George O'Keeffe. Sadly, Rosetta announced she is passing on the Club President's mantle while she focuses on her health but luckily she will continue as a club member. Rosetta has inspired us all with her drive and determination and has shown us that passion and sincerity are winning ingredients in public speaking.

Business Talk Toastmasters moves base

2008 New Venue

The club has now settled in and is based at Level 12, 121 Exhibition street. Attached are some photos which give you different perspectives of a top grade venue. There is a security system in operation, so vistors must contact Gail 03 9655 8894,Verena 9651 7613 or Shanta 96552068 if they wish to attend.

Today's speeches are a fair representation of what you may expect Shanta(in picture at podium) spoke on a contentious topic of every day relevance - "Are today's kids more spoilt than before or, are today's parents spoil-sports" -speech # 6 his speech had great entertainment value .In contrast Gail Smyth speaking from the advanced manual, presented us with an evocative analysis and rendition of some of Banjo Paterson's poetry appealing to our senses. One of the great benefits of this club is that we run a lunch session and finish on the dot within the hour at 1:30 pm. We had 21 members attend meeting 271 with 3 visitors and one new member joining up today. Visitors are welcome to come and savor the experience.

What toastmasters did for a club member

Hi,

The 5 speeches I gave since joining has made all the difference to my confidence and launched my career as a speaker. Tomorrow I will do two 20 minute presentations to a crowd of 80 CEOs and CFOs and on Friday I am a guest speaker at a Love Your Business Community dinner where I will speak to 50 business owners.

I could not have done this without the experience I gained with Toastmasters.

Warm Regards

David Markus
Founder and Managing Director
